I want to share an article about celiac disease and osteoporosis.
This reminded me of a story told to me by the dietitian I saw while pregnant with Luke. My dietitian’s husband had recently been diagnosed with celiac disease too. Her husband’s hidden celiac disease was discovered after he had been lifting heavy materials one afternoon, and proceeded to break several bones and fracture several vertebrae. He was a young 30 something at the time so it was rather peculiar to break so many bones just by lifting heavy objects. After seeing a specialist and having a bone density scan (among all the celiac tests), he was diagnosed with celiac disease.
