2012 Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Forum (and a Giveaway)

The 2012 Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Forum, sponsored by HealthNOW Medical Center will be held this Saturday, October 13th in Palo Alto, CA.  If you live in the area (or are in need of a fall weekend getaway), I cannot recommend this gluten free forum enough.  In fact, it was the 2010 Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Forum (the DVD version) that finally helped me “connect the dots” when it comes to leaky gut, nutrition, food sensitivities, and their impact on our health.  Watching that video was the beginning of the end for me and my family.  The end of constant, debilitating health struggles (despite a strictly gluten free diet).  The end of ignorance.  The end of not feeling empowered. The end of ghosting through my life due to fear of food.

Seriously, check out Dr. Vikki’s video about me and my family:

The speakers are some of the leading experts in the field and the research presented is often times mind-numbing in scope.  This is information that your current doctor probably DOES NOT HAVE and you owe it to yourself and your family to either make it to the conference (or pick up a copy of the DVD once it is available).  I could go on and on about the incredible experience we had at HealthNOW and the many questions we finally had answered, but suffice it to say that you WILL begin to understand more about how your body works and what it needs if you take the time to check in.

So, without further ado…here’s more about the conference from the woman I am very proud to call one of my personal doctors, Dr. Vikki Petersen of HealthNOW Medical Center

The only event of its kind…  this is where people come together to learn information about gluten sensitivity and celiac disease, speak to international experts in the field, and sample a variety of gluten-free foods.

Let me tell you why we hold our annual Forum. One of the most common issues I run into with my patients is that they are not educated fully on gluten intolerance. This lack of education or understanding results in them making mistakes that cause serious repercussions on their health. Other times, the patient is a child and the lack of education on the part of their parent or parents is creating an adverse effect on their health. And still other times it is the relatives or friends of patients who themselves have a problem with gluten but who are choosing to ignore it, to the great concern of my patient who understands how serious the problem is.
So that’s why it’s important.  It is an opportunity to get educated, speak with experts from around the world, meet like-minded people and enjoy delicious gluten-free food from local vendors.
It is a rare opportunity, and is only held once a year– not to mention the fact that this Forum is the only one like it in all of California.
To top it off, 10% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, so that we can get to the bottom of the problem once and for all!  If increasing awareness about gluten and the effects it has on human health is something you want to support, then buy a ticket and come join us on Saturday, October 13th!
We look forward to seeing you, your friends and family there—and please forward this post and spread the word!

  1. So glad to read/listen to anything about Heidi. She’s one of my heroes!

  2. I will be there….sounds like it is going to be a great forum.

  3. Thank you for posting this information. I am so thankful for your skills and efforts Heidi, as you seem to have your thumb on the pulse of what is essentail in the world of gluten free research, foods, recipes, etc. We had a teen that struggled with severe depression, and gluten was the root of the issue. You had posted concerning another conference a few years back, I purchased the DVD. After viewing the DVD it was life changing. I then went to a website that was recommend on the DVD, and found a functional medicine dr, in my area. Today, our teen is a young adult, enrolled in college, gained a scholarship, and is engaging in the joy of life. What a difference from a few years ago, when we were at the ER, for severe depression.
We were also able to find a college that understood gluten free food, and the chef cooks for him, they have classes for the kids to take with food allergies, intolerance, as well as trained staff. Researching information helped me know the questions to ask.
I encourage others who are struggling to keep their eyes open for the DVD, and if you are able to attend, please take advantage of this opportunity.
Thank you for all your efforts, talents, energy, and care you have for this community and to see children, and adluts, find healing.
