MyFoodMyHealth: Review and Giveaway!

I am really excited to share a wonderful online resource with you today.  MyFoodMyHealth is a customized online meal planning service that takes advantage of the healing power of real, whole foods to help you control various health conditions and food allergies.  MyFoodMyHealth is designed not only for individuals and their families, but for Healthcare Professionals as well.  I was recently able to try out the website with a complimentary 3-month membership and wow, I’m impressed!

Here is how MyFoodMyHealth works:

Step 1: Pick a membership plan starting as low as $7.50/month

Step 2: Create your personal profile and indicate any health conditions you may have and MyFoodMyHealth will custom taylor menu plans with your specific health condition in mind (click here to see the full list of conditions).

You can also check off any food allergies you may have, as well as personal dislikes and those foods will not show up in your menu plans (click here to read more).

You can even set up individual profiles for each member of your family and MyFoodMyHealth will take into consideration the health conditions of everyone in your household when suggesting weekly menu plans, allowing you to serve wonderful meals that meet everyone’s nutritional needs!

Do you have any idea how helpful this program has been for me lately??

I made just one profile for my entire family, so here is what I checked off:

Health Conditions: Celiac

Food Allergies: Corn, Dairy, Egg

Dislikes: I added all the other foods we cannot currently have (while on our elimination diet) as our dislikes: Soy, Beef, Pork, Shellfish, Strawberries, Citrus, Vinegar, Coffee, Tea, Soda, Alcoholic Beverages, Sugar and Honey.

Step 3: Get tailored menu plans

Were there any menu plans to be had for us?  You betcha! 😀  Breakfast ideas like Banana Buckwheat Cereal and Dinner ideas such as Quinoa-Vegetable Medley with Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Chicken, Braised White-Flesh Fish with Fennel, Tomatoes and Spinach and Cozy Bowl Chicken and Rice.  Simple, nutritious and delicious!

Step 4: Get printable shopping lists for each week’s menu plan.

  10. I have a hard time with dinners because we're new to this (GFCF for autism) and we love cheese and wheat! My little guy (2.5) is a huge fan of mac n' cheese and SUPER picky, so we need lots of ideas to help him find new foods to love!

  11. I find that dinner is my hardest meal to plan. Breakfast is simple, lunch is slightly problematic, but dinner with its four people and at least two alternative meals (sometimes three meals to be made) just makes me tired and cranky and overwhelmed.

  15. I'm new to the Gluten-Free world, and I generally find it hard in general. I think that the hardest meal of the day is dinner. Usually I can do really well during the day, but then struggle a lot at dinner. My family is not GF, and they are still having trouble understanding why I am, wheat sensitivity, so when they prepare meals they are usually things I can't eat. So i'm often tempted. I make my own things, but I feel that it's never up to par with my gluten eating days of the past. I think breakfast and lunch are easier, I know it doesn't make sense… but ugh it's so challenging!

  20. Breakfast is our biggest challenge. We can't do eggs, wheat, nuts or peanuts. We end up with oatmeal all of the time or maybe muffins that I make, or a frozen egg free wheat free waffle or french toast from a box. Don't get me wrong, I'm GLAD to have something easy, but I wish I could get more protein that was non-dairy in their diets. I'm tempted to fix them dinner!!!!

  31. oops…forgot the why. My family is milk, soy, egg whites, salmon, peanuts, sunflower seeds, gluten, corn and pea free. I find it nearly impossible to find something that requires minimal cooking and/or can sit in a lunchbox all morning. Breakfast is oatmeal and fruit during the week and dinner is fairly easy…meat, veggies. Boring, but safe.

  32. I find breakfast the hardest, because I don't want to wait. I am not big on most grains, breads, muffins, etc… So I usually end up having a scramble. I make killer scrambles, but they get old for sure!

  40. Lunch both at home and for school is my hardest with kids. Sandwiches get boring and almond butter and honey or ham with homemade mayo is can be very very boring.

  46. Dinner is the hardest meal to prepare for me with lunch a close second. I have 2 people in the family who can eat "normally" and one who has Celiac and can't have gluten and then me who doesn't eat gluten and can't have dairy. I get so tired of trying to fix something that is pleasing to everyone! Usually I end up fixing 2 or 3 of the same dish, just modified for each of us. I'm tired. Lunch is hard, because my Celiac daughter gets sick of the same things and doesn't like to take anything that has to be warmed up.

    To be honest, it really varies for me which meal is the hardest. If I lived alone, dinner would be the most difficult, but with my husband, he requires a solid three meals and will eat just sugar if I don't make them for him … so all three meals get me sometimes!

  49. I find that dinner is the hardest to plan for, since being diagnosed with celiac and suffering from daily migraines I am usually at the end of my energy by that time of day.

Packing fun and interesting lunches for my son is becoming hard..he's gluten free/dairy free/soy free and because of allergies in the school I also have to make school lunches peanut free. His school has what's called "Balanced Day" it's a new thing in Ontario and some other provinces too. Basically the lunch is split into 2, they eat at 10:50 and again at 1:05 that's a challenge for my daughter without food allergies and even harder for my son.

    Breakfast is also hard, trying to get morning protein into him. I would love to have a 3 month trial.

  53. The meal I find most challenging to plan for is dinner because I am a full time college student and allergic to corn. It is very time consuming and hard to try and figure out what to eat, the only thing I have been eating is rice. It is also extremely hard when I visit my mom because my whole family is eating corn filled foods while I have to bring my own corn-free foods, which I haven't found very many. I would love to try out the meal planner to help me figure out meals I can eat. Thank you!

    Dinner is the hardest, because I work swing shift, and have to bring it with me. It usually ends up being leftovers, but gf doesn't always reheat in a microwave very well.

  56. Dinner is definitely the hardest in my house! I feel like I make 5 different dinners every night (which aren't that substantial or nutritious!) I need help making ONE meal that will satisfy my gluten intolerance, as well as my husband's need for a "hearty" meal and my kids being super picky!

  57. Gosh, I'm having a hard time deciding which meal is the hardest. Each presents it's own issues, especially when you have a picky child. I guess if I had to choose it would be dinner. I get very bored with my meals. I dream of sitting down and planning everything out and going to the store and just buying what I need istead of going off of what's in my head (bad idea:). Breakfast can be hard because of ds10 won't eat cold cereal. Pretty much me making pancakes or waffles. If we're in a rush he will eat cereal bars. My dd12 has always been phobic about food and is the hardest to get to eat anything so lunch and dinner is difficult to feed her. Looking forward to checking out this website.

  58. dinner! I am so fatigued by then. I run 15 hours fo enteral nutrition while running around my housee all day. I carry a back pac with my pump and it is forever falling off while I amm moving and bending doing chores. I cook for my family and they are not celiac so I mix the meals up.

  68. Lunch is the hardest meal for us to plan because we eat it separately and often eat different foods. It's far more complicated than dinner!

  69. Any meal eating out!!!! I have over 20 different food intolerances ie. wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, vanilla, garlic, black pepper, foods with molds-mushrooms, vinegars, berries, melons, yeast, sugar for candida, lettuce…! So finding foods in an established menu is out and very few restaurants do Vegan/gluten free meals in West Michigan!

    I find dinner most difficult to plan for because variety is challenging with gluten-soy- and dairy- allergies. Snacks are also difficult because I don't want to fall into the trap of just having packaged gluten-free foods. They are often loaded with sugar and fat, too.

  71. I am always SUPER stressed about lunch. I have a 2 year old who was diagnosed with Celiac at 18 months and he has hated food since he was born!! I pack a GF lunch everyday for him to take to daycare and it is so hard to stay creative! I want to send him the same things that the other kids eat!

My daughter and my husband don't have any allergies and they don't really like the GF/DF options so I'm cooking two different versions of everything…….I feel like a short order cook!     Third, toughest meal to plan… lunch is when I struggle most, but dinner for the family (ONE dinner) is tough too.

  74. Dinner is a challenge, but breakfast is probably my hardest meal to get any kind of well-rounded balance. I'm GF, my husband is DF and is avoiding tomatoes and pork, our daughter, 2 1/2, is GF and is allergic to GF oats, is a picky eater and breakfast is challenging.

  75. Dinner for sure. I have celiac, my 13 yo daughter is a vegetarian, and my husband needs to lose weight, but doesn't want to eat like it, and wants meat & potatoes!

    The hardest meal for me is breakfast. I usually eat breakfast at work since I start at 6:30. It used to be that if I was running late I could just grab something on the way to work but, now that is pretty much impossible since no fast food restaurant that I'm aware of has anything gluten free.

  79. The hardest meals for me are lunch and dinner. Lunch, because I need something that's easy to take along and doesn't need a lot of prep time. Dinner because I'm usually so tired and hungry by the time I get home that the thought of meal planning and cooking is the farthest thing from my mind. Another challenge, is that I'm cooking for one and most recipes are designed for families. So I *really* have to love it since I'm probably going to be eating it for several days.

  80. I find breakfast most difficult! I love cooking and don't mind creating and finding meal plans for other meals. Breakfast is the time of day that is hectic with 3 children who all want something different and only one child has to be limited (as well as myself) My son eats very well but I don't like having to give him the same breakfast everyday. He's only 1! We need to expand his horizons!

  85. I am new to the gluten free world and I find lunch the most challenging meal of the day. My youngest is newly gluten/dairy free and most of the suggestions I have been able to find are for things she refuses to eat.
