The Death Star Pinata

Whew…I think I have made a passable (at least to a group of 5 and 6 year olds) Death Star Pinata for Sam and his buddy Garrett’s upcoming Star Wars birthday party.

This is what I used as a guide:

Death Star 3

I wasn't originally going to make the Superlaser Dish...but decided to go for it in order to achieve ubercool status!

After I decoupaged the bowl and spraypainted it with primer...the quarter was a useful stencil

Overall, this was pretty easy.  Especially using what was originally a soccer ball pinata.  It was a ton of fun to watch Sam as I was making it. “Awesooooome!”  Aw, the joys of parenthood. :-)

Now, if I can only be as successful with the 3-D Clone Trooper Helmet Cake next week!

Wow! I am loving your creativity! I wish I had seen this before I ordered the Darth Vader pinata that may or may not get here before my son's party on Saturday. I guess I can buy a back up soccer ball pinata and start working on it Friday afternoon if the other Vader head doesn't make it! lol!

    Hi,

I love love your death star pinata. I want to make one for my sons upcoming star wars birthday party too. I was going to start from scratch but with 3 kids at home incl a 9 mth old l did a reality check and realised l probably wouldn't have time to do it justice.

I have a question. A soccerball pinata is not entirely round even though once hung looks round (because of it actually being cardboard). Could you please step through the process of getting it round to the point of spraying it?

    Thanks Vicky

Very good pinata! I'm very impressed. I tried to make one myself (view it on the link above). I think yours is much better though!
